This homecoming took place in a southern border town called Yuma, AZ.
Shooting homecomings is always such a privilege so when Sidney contacted me to shoot her homecoming I was honored. I met up with her the day of the homecoming and she was the sweetest girl ever. She had this bubbly personality about her that was contagious and she was just someone that made you feel comfortable as soon as you spoke to her. She informed me she was waiting on her fiance, Cpl Jake P., and couldn't wait to see him. He had been deployed for 7 months and she would finally get to see him. While we waited for Jake's arrival we talked about Sidney's schooling, her home state and her plans on when she would get married. Chatting really helped pass the time because before we knew it, we were informed the men and woman in uniform were almost there.
Sidney waited patiently with her cute "Best Day Ever" sign and once the doors opened up her face started glowing. She could see Jake. I could tell she was so excited to hug him. Once the unit was free to go to their loved ones Jake ran to Sidney and hugged her as tight as he could. They embraced in the sweetest kiss I had ever seen. I struggled to keep it together.
Seeing them reunited and all the other families around me reminded me how blessed I am to be able to document such special occasions such as these sweet homecoming moments. Here are just a few of my favorite images from that special day.
